Short Classroom activity breaks- A collection of activity breaks to do in your classroom. Some tie in to Language Arts and Math. They require little to no set-up. Check back monthly.

"ACTIVE ACADEMICS" - Welcome to Active Academics! This website has been developed to provide practical ideas to classroom teachers for integrating physical activity throughout the school day. Lesson ideas are short "10 minute or less" activities that get students moving while practicing content standards in a variety of subject areas.

Active Academics currently provides activities for K-5 classrooms in math, reading/language arts, health/nutrition, and physical education. Teachers can also choose "classroom energizers" that will provide simple ideas just for giving students a "moving break" from classroom activities.



BRAIN BREAKS 1- A Physical Activity Idea Place  for Elementary Classroom Teachers that has short physical activity breaks that incorporate various subject areas. Brought to you by the Michigan Dept. of Education.

Basic exercises and short relaxation ideas- Use for morning exercises or when your students need a break. We have used these in the past before PSSA tests.

You've gotta move- You’ve Gotta Move is an exciting, free, activity-based program designed and delivered as an engaging combination of dance, activity and music for kindergarten to second grade students. 

Classroom based Physical Activities - a pdf. file with many great activity ideas from East Carolina University. They fit in well in the classroom and tie in with academics

Children's books and physical activities to go with them- some books you might already read to your class with short physical activities to go with them.

Language Arts and Math activity ideas- ideas from all over the internet that I compiled that use Language Arts and Math. These activities require a little bit more preparation than the activity breaks on this page.

Happy to Be Healthy- Welcome to Happy to Be Healthy, a national standards-based program created to help your students and their families learn the FACTS about the flu and Good Health Manners that will help them stay as healthy as they can be. Developed by Scholastic and Roche, this program features engaging penguin characters from the new movie, Happy Feet. Timely messages and information help students recognize when they feel good or bad; understand the flu and how it is different from a cold; learn habits that promote good health; and learn what to do if they feel sick.
